We supported a project to counter domestic violence

Another non-profit organisation supported through the Fortegrant corporate program is Lumpíkov in Frýdek-Místek. Lumpíkov is a non-profit organisation established to create a place for mothers to meet and share information, and where their children would be taken care of in free-time clubs.

But Lumpíkov is not just about children. It is also about women who want to return to work after maternity or parental leave. The labour market is constantly evolving and returning to work can be challenging, especially after a few years. Lumpíkov helps with this problem through training courses subsidised by the European Social Fund.

Fortemix has supported another of this non-profit’s projects, one that helps women experiencing domestic violence.

In the words of Petra Petrušková, director of Lumpíkov: At first, it looks like a Hollywood love story. But later it can turn into a nightmare. And not only for the woman, but also for her children.

When we started fighting domestic violence in Frýdek-Místek, we thought that one or two women would need help. But lately we have been getting a call almost every week from a woman asking for help. Sometimes it is psychological violence, where her partner locks her in the house, threatens her or throws her out, sometimes physical violence, where she ends up in hospital. It is not only the woman but also her children who live in constant fear. Fear of falling asleep, fear of saying anything, fear of what comes next.

We provide women with free legal assistance, representation in court, and psychological support for her and her children. The most difficult task is finding alternative housing, because it is extremely tough for them to get on their feet financially.
